World Ovarian
Cancer Day

On May 8, the world comes together to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and drive meaningful change for women everywhere. This year, we’re building on that momentum – continuing our global awareness efforts while launching a bold new social media campaign to make ovarian cancer impossible to ignore.

Thank you to AbbVie, Verastem Oncology, Genmab, Corcept Therapeutics, and Zentalis Pharmaceuticals for their support.

#NoWomanLeftBehind

This theme reflects our unwavering commitment to equity in ovarian cancer outcomes worldwide. No woman’s symptoms should be dismissed. No woman should face unnecessary delays in diagnosis. No woman should be denied quality care because of where she lives.

#NoWomanLeftBehind is a call to health systems, policymakers, and communities to close the gaps that cost lives — and to ensure that progress in ovarian cancer reaches every woman, everywhere.

#ReachForTheScars

Help Make Ovarian Cancer Impossible to Ignore

Ovarian cancer leaves scars – some visible, many invisible.
Yet it’s still often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and not talked about enough.

So, this World Ovarian Cancer Day, we’re inviting you to share yours.

Why It Matters

Every scar tells a story of survival, strength, love, and loss. It is both vulnerability and where resilience grows. Each story could help others recognize symptoms, seek care, or feel less alone. Together, we can change the story of ovarian cancer and ensure that there is #NoWomanLeftBehind.

Who Can Participate?

Everyone impacted by ovarian cancer is invited to take part, including survivors, previvors, those currently in treatment, caregivers, and advocates. Supporters, partners, and healthcare professionals are invited to stand with the ovarian cancer community and share their voices and experiences.

How To Take Part

1. Share a photo

This could be:

  • A photo of your physical scar
  • A representation of an emotional scar
  • A creative or symbolic interpretation
  • One of our downloadable posters
2. Share your story

In the caption, write a few words about what your scar represents.                   You might reflect on:

About World Ovarian Cancer Day

Established in 2013 by global ovarian cancer advocacy leaders, World Ovarian Cancer Day is the one day each year dedicated to uniting the international community around a shared goal: improving outcomes for women affected by ovarian cancer.

While the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition advances systemic change year-round, World Ovarian Cancer Day serves as our global awareness and mobilisation platform — bringing visibility, urgency, and collective momentum to the cause.

More than 200 partner organizations — from grassroots advocacy groups to national health bodies — stand together on May 8 to amplify women’s voices and highlight the need for earlier diagnosis, equitable access to care, and greater prioritisation of ovarian cancer worldwide.

Together, our global community expands its reach and impact every year — strengthening awareness, engagement, and action across countries and regions.
