An interview with the Global Research Innovation Network (GRIN).
Tell us about how GRIN was started.
The Global Research Innovation Network (GRIN) was established in December 2025 with the vision of making healthcare education and knowledge more accessible to communities. We created GRIN to bring together healthcare professionals, researchers, students, and innovators on a single platform where they can learn, collaborate, and create meaningful social impact. While our long term vision is global, our current focus is strengthening public health awareness, improving access to healthcare information, and empowering communities across Pakistan.
What are your main priorities and programs supporting those affected by ovarian cancer?
Our work focuses on three key areas: awareness, early detection, and access to care. Through expert led webinars, Awareness campaigns, and community health education initiatives, we aim to increase public understanding of ovarian cancer symptoms, risk factors, and the importance of timely medical consultation. We alsowork to connect women and families with reliable healthcare information and are exploring telemedicine solutions to help improve access to qualified healthcare professionals, particularly for those facing barriers to care.

What are the most significant challenges facing your community when it comes to ovarian cancer?
One of the greatest challenges is the lack of awareness surrounding ovarian cancer symptoms. Signs such as persistent bloating, pelvic discomfort, fatigue, and changes in appetite are often overlooked or mistaken for less serious conditions, leading to delayed diagnosis. Social stigma around women’s reproductive health can also discourage open conversations and timely healthcare seeking behavior. Additionally, access to specialist care remains a challenge for many women, particularly in underserved communities. These barriers highlight the need for continued education, advocacy, and improved healthcare access.
Can you share an initiative or achievement that you are particularly proud of and that highlights the impact OCSM is having?
We are proud of several public health initiatives that reflect our commitment to community wellbeing and health education. Recently, GRIN conducted a Hybrid Immunization Awareness Session to promote the importance of vaccination and disease prevention, as well as a Hypertension Awareness Campaign that combined digital outreach with a hybrid webinar featuring healthcare experts. These initiatives helped engage communities in meaningful conversations about prevention, early intervention, and healthier lifestyles. Through programs like these, GRIN continues to strengthen primary healthcare, empower individuals to make informed health decisions, and expand access to reliable healthcare information across Pakistan.
