The Gynecologic Oncology Society of Nigeria

Gynaecological Oncology Society of Nigeria (GOSON) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. It was formed in 2014 with the following aim of reducing the burden of gynaecological malignancies in Nigeria.

The Society aim to achieve this through organizing and participating in scientific/academic meeting on gynaecological related cancers, training of health workers and developing of management protocols for the management of gynaecological cancers and to collaborate with other professional organizations locally and internationally.

After the formation meeting in Asaba, Delta state of Nigeria, several meetings were held in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory to consolidate and concretized the Society.

The first Annual General meeting of the Society was held in Kano, termed Dabo 2018 and was well attended.

As a part of its educational program, the first training for members was organized in Bauchi in 2019 where members were trained in various methods of screening for cervical premalignant lesions as well as outpatient treatment of cervical premalignant lesions.
